Weekend Recap

Saturday was such a fun day. Hubby was meeting some friends for lunch so me and the kids hung out at home. We watched movies, played games, baked brownies. Or should I say Haley baked the brownies, with a little help from Talon.  I did have to stop and pick the eggshell out of the mix.

Hubby met some internet pals at Ryan's Steakhouse. They are all liberals and they have been discussing politics for years. This was the first time they met in person. He had a really good time.

Later that afternoon we went to Peebles to find Haley some soccer cleats. Soccer is well on its way and we still can't find cleats to fit her.(she has very wide feet) But we did find a sale, oh how I love those sales. We got Haley a pair of sandals, high heel sandals for $7. They are so pretty. I have to post about sales, it may be boring but I can't help myself. I love finding a sale. Its like going on a scavenger hunt and then being rewarded for all your hard work.
She's mad with me so she's sticking out her tongue.

On Sunday I decided to cook ham, potato salad and carrots. Storm decided he would help with the potato salad. Halfway through he decided to wash dishes instead. He did great. I didn't even have to wash them again.

We went to Toys r Us and they had this awesome sale on video games. Buy two for $20 or less and get the third free. Boy did we take advantage of that. With three birthdays in the next three months sales can really make shopping less stressful.  We decided to avoid the Halloween store so we wouldn't blow a ton of money. But what happens, we go to Target and find all these cool Halloween decorations. We usually just decorate outside but not this year. We couldn't resist. I won't share it now, we still have a few more things to purchase and we probably won't decorate until the first of October. Then I will post plenty of pics. Can't wait!

Update on Flylady:
So far Flylady has been a big help. The 10 emails a day can be a little annoying, I think I'll just request her weekly newsletter. Anyway I have been focusing on my hot spots. Which is generally my kitchen table and a clothes basket in my room. I am washing my dishes pretty much as I use them. I am thinking about using the dishwasher instead. Hubby thinks I'm crazy because I always wash dishes by hand. The kids have kept the living room clean. By Monday morning our house is usually trashed. But not today. I could probably spend one hour cleaning and be done. This week is declutter you master bedroom. The key to decluttering without that overwhelming feeling is to do one thing at a time. If you're like me you like to empty the entire closet and then you are surrounded by a pile of mess that takes all day to put away .Flylady suggests you take one thing at a time and find a place for it, throw it away, or put it in a pile to give away. Thanks Flylady.

  1. Haley is beautiful in her new heels. The boys are all boy aren't they? It is a hope they will always be close. When they are teenagers, they do not want the younger ones around them, but not always. If they are raised close as yours are ,with two loving parents, hopefully, they will stay close and loving. You and hubby, have done yourselves proud.
It is great to meet friends in person after a long internet connection and like each other. That is great.
